Hope for Cambodian Children have been involved in Cambodia since 2006.

HfCC built a centre in Battambang for the children that no other agency would take.

Why are we in Cambodia? Here are some facts.

  • Population of Cambodia is 14 million, with an average per capita income of $1 per day.
  • Only 74% of the population are literate, and only 27 out 1000 children complete secondary school
  • 59% of the population don’t have access to safe drinking water.
  • 40% of the population are children below the age of 15, 45% of whom are under five and underweight
  • 25% of children die before they reach 5 years old, commonly from diphtheria, malaria and diarrheal diseases.
  • 3% incidence of HIV in the population is the highest rate in Asia.
  • 25% of all families don’t have a male breadwinner.
  • 40% of HIV+ women pass on HIV to their unborn or young baby.

HfCC works co-operatively with many agencies on projects to improve the lives of children and their families in Cambodia.

There are about 20 staff at our centre with over 100 children.
