Our approach to privacy and spam

Hope for Cambodian Children Foundation, Inc (HfCC) respects your privacy. The privacy of your personal information has always been important to us at HfCC. We have adopted the the National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth) as well as other applicable laws and codes affecting your personal information such as the Spam Act 2003, which deals with restrictions on sending emails.
Although our policy specifically addresses HfCC and its obligations in respect of the laws of Australia, where practicable HfCC in Cambodia apply the principles and the processes set out below, subject to any requirements of local law.

Collecting your information

We collect personal information when we provide our services to you, or a client requires us to collect information on their behalf. Generally, if appropriate, we will tell you why we are collecting personal information and how we plan to use it, or these things will be obvious when we collect the information.
If you are a sponsor, fundraiser or volunteer, we usually collect personal information such as your contact details, job title or position and your expertise and interests. Where relevant, we may ask you for other information. We may collect your willingly submitted contact information (such as your email address) and financial information (such as a credit card type, number, and expiration date). Contact information from these response forms is used to process donations, provide receipts and other information about HfCC to our donors. The contact information is also used to get in touch with donors when necessary in order to resolve service issues or questions.

Collecting your information using this website

We generally only collect personal information from this website when it is provided voluntarily by you – for example, when you fill in a form to subscribe to our publications or to sponsor a child or project.
When you visit this website or download information from it, our Internet Service Provider (ISP) makes a record of your visit and records the following information:

  • your Internet address;
  • your domain name, if applicable; and
  • the date and time of your visit to the website.

Our ISP also collects information such as the pages our users access, the documents they download, links from other sites they follow to reach our site, and the type of browser they use. However, this information is anonymous and is only used for statistical and website development purposes.

We use your information to provide our services to you, and to enhance and develop our relationship with you. We may share your information with other entities directly related to HfCC and with the centre in Cambodia. This may involve sending your personal information overseas.
HfCC is bound by obligations of confidentiality and legal privilege. We will continue to treat and protect information we receive (including any personal information) in accordance with these obligations.

How long do we keep your information?

We will keep and use your information after you have provided a donation, purchased a product or service or interacted in some other way with HfCC. How long we hold and use the information after you have ceased donating or interacting with us will depend on the type of interaction you had with HfCC and any requirements under law.

Protecting information provided via the Internet

Our site uses security encrypted response forms when personal and financial details are requested. The security we use between your browser and our web-site is 128-bit SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption.
